A Fujoshi is...

A Fujoshi literally translates to rotten girl. It refers to the female counterpart to the male Otaku. A Fujoshi is the japanese term for the female fans of mangas which feature romantic impliactions between men; this often associated with yaoi and shounen ai mangas.

About the Series...

Takahiro Abe is a regular highschool boy who fell in love with Rumi Asai; a hardcore Yaoi loving Otaku girl (fujoshi). Rumi's mind is full of fantasies of Takahiro and Shunsuke Chiba, Abe's best friend, and is convinced they are in love with each other. Fantasies run even more wild when Yoko Matsui, the class babe, and accidentally reveals herself as an otaku-in-closet. Facing many challenges, can this fujoshi and ordinary guy find love?!

My review...

Obviously you should guess that I love this manga! Usually I shy away from shoujo mangas; this is an understatement, I really don't like them. However Fujoshi Rumi; Mousou Shoujo Otaku Kei is one of my favourite mangas! Why? Well, firstly, its funny. The situations and actions of the characters can be so ridiculous but at the same time relatable (for all those yaoi fans!). Every yaoi fanatic/fan could relate to Rumi, her crazy fantasies and boyxboy pairings and of course there's Yoko, the in closet otaku; not all of us like to shout to the world "I <3 YAOI". I love the development of relationships and pace of the manga, you also get to see regular guys' reaction to an otaku. Poor Takahiro Abe was pushed into the otaku's world and those crazy yaoi fantasies, I took pity on him but it was great to see his view on everything.

This is a manga based on yaoi loving girls, it does not contain yaoi though it does have some shounen ai elements due to Rumi's wild fantasies. Even those who dislike yaoi may enjoy this just because its really freaking hilarious. So check it out. You can even read it on some manga sites: Mangafox
